My first feature for Sarasota Magazine is now available in print and online! Believe it or not, but I pitched this story to my editor back in October! So, it’s neat to finally see the final product out in the world - my little baby is all grown up!
Here’s a link to the piece, which is about my favorite local coffee shop, Palma. I visited a handful of shops when I first moved to Sarasota, but so many of them lacked an innovative menu and/or hospitable employees. I clearly recall one spot where I felt like a total inconvenience whenever I approached the register to order. I can still hear the Tame Impala song playing in the background on my final visit…
….but thank God for Palma! The staff is so kind and their menu is seasonal, which is always a good sign to me because it indicates the Powers That Be have a certain level of respect for their clientele.
I’m feeling very grateful for the opportunity to begin contributing creatively to this city. I know I made some sort of impact during my time in Des Moines, and I wonder if the same sort of impact is replicable here in Sarasota?
We shall see!
Great work as always. Wish I lived there and could go have coffee at this place. Your writing is so real. It brings me into the experience. Good job!!!
